Study on Palliative Care and Quality of Life Nursing Essay

This interview study was part of a larger study into the quality of palliative care in the Southwest Netherlands region. We applied an exploratory qualitative research approach using semi-structured interviews to assess the 'lived experience' of palliative care nurses in relation to their roles and responsibilities. We conducted individual interviews in: Improving self-care, symptom management and overall quality of life: a treatment and prevention of suffering for patients with progressive disease or serious injury, but they are not necessarily dying. One study focused on the analysis of nursing concepts in palliative care, Kirkpatrick et al. 2017, Background The goal of palliative care is to improve the quality of life of patients and families by preventing and alleviating suffering. Patients often choose to receive palliative care at home. The purpose of this article is to provide a summary of the quality and primary outcomes measured within palliative care at home. 1 Introduction. The number of people living with chronic degenerative diseases and disabling diseases has increased, contributing to a rising need for palliative care. Many people at the end of life can benefit from early integration of the patient-centered approach to palliative care, with an emphasis on quality of life and relief of symptoms2,3,4. Research shows that palliative care improves symptoms, quality of life, well-being of patients and families, and in some situations, for example advanced lung cancer, survival. Palliative care also reduces unnecessary use of hospitals, diagnostic and treatment interventions and unnecessary intensive care. 6 - 11. Palliative care not only improves the quality of life of patients and their families, reducing mental and physical problems and discomfort, but can also help patients live longer. The extended survival is believed to be due to improved quality of life, appropriate administration of disease-directed treatments, and early referral to hospice.,
