Urinary tract infections UTIs are the most common bacterial infections in humans and are responsible for significant morbidity and mortality, resulting in increased healthcare costs. Most urinary tract infections are caused by specialized Escherichia coli, E. coli strains called uropathogenic E. coli UPEC. UPEC possesses a variety of virulence factor VFs, which in another study, Song F. et al. 2017 compared the adhesion of motile E. coli and P. aeruginosa on soft and hard PDMS surfaces. They reported that E. coli showed higher motility on the surface of hard PDMS 2. than soft PDMS 0. and that the flagellar motor protein motB played an important role in response to PDMS. The adhesion of E. coli harboring flagella is improved on surfaces with rough PDMS. microtopography compared to planar surfaces, probably because flagella can access crevices and initiate. The ability of E. coli O to survive on fresh produce surfaces could be responsible for cross-contamination on cutting boards. Arthur et al. studied the contamination of the stables of cattle and pig slaughterhouses. They described Salmonella and E. coli O157:H floor covering materials responsible for meat.
