Studies show that edentulism is closely linked to socio-economic factors and is more common in poor populations and in women. Other factors contributing to the prevalence of complete tooth loss are age, education, introduction. Complete dentures are considered the most cost-effective and least invasive option for the rehabilitation of edentulous patients. An essential characteristic that influences the quality of removable dentures is the fit of the denture. Properly fitting dentures provide greater comfort and reduce the incidence of traumatic ulcers. The appropriate fit of the prosthesis means that the retention of the prosthesis and the basal area were measured in different arch shapes, square, tapered and ovoid of the maxilla. A device based on the principle of “force application at right angles to the denture base to evaluate denture retention,” as outlined by Skinner and Chung, was used to measure the value of denture retention.
