Over the past twenty years, the concept of sustainable tourism development has become almost universally accepted as a desirable and politically expedient one. The publication aims to untangle the links between tourism and the SDGs and provides recommendations on how to steer the way, based on an analysis of countries' Voluntary, definitions and conceptualizations of sustainable tourism. Well-designed and well-managed tourism can make an important contribution to all three. Sustainable development is a key concept in the actions of the United Nations. It aims to meet the needs of current generations without impacting the wealth of the future. The expansion of tourism has had substantial impacts on both natural and human landscapes, leading to a paradigm shift towards sustainability. The Vision will support the development and implementation of recovery plans that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs and to the Paris Agreement. At a time when governments and tourism literature are awash with evidence of the value of domestic tourism to the tourism industry in general. However, there is limited knowledge about how domestic tourism contributes to the development of sustainable tourism, especially in developing countries. This study examined the contribution of domestic tourism. The concepts of sustainable development, sustainable tourism and ecotourism all represent relatively recent developments that have been the subject of controversial debate, especially since the 1990s. There is no universally accepted understanding of its precise meaning and a definitional approach seems problematic. This article aims to examine the progress of sustainable tourism research and outline and identify the key disciplines, journals, articles and authors. This is done through a broad, in-depth and structured examination of published scientific articles. In recent decades, sustainable tourism has been one of the most important topics. The expansion of tourism has had substantial impacts on both the natural and human landscapes, leading to a paradigm shift towards sustainable development. The concept of sustainability, while rooted in earlier decades, has gained widespread acceptance as a guiding principle for the future trajectory of the industry.
