Aristotle's Life of Contemplation is the best philosophy essay

Along with his teacher Plato, Aristotle is widely regarded as one of the most influential thinkers of antiquity in a number of philosophical areas, including political theory. Aristotle was born in Stagira in northern Greece, and his father was a personal physician. At first, Aristotle seems to indicate that living a virtuous life is the most dominant goal to achieve a happy life. Towards the end he reverses course and claims that the philosopher's contemplative life is the right goal for that happy life. It makes you wonder what then is the true dominant goal for a human being to live a happy life. Furthermore, Aristotle argues that since gods are the happiest of us all and they live fulfilling lives of contemplation, the life of contemplation will be the happiest for us humans too. Therefore, the activity of God, which surpasses all others in bliss, must be contemplative, and of human activity, therefore, that which is, Gabriel Richardson Lear presents a bold new approach to one of the ongoing debates on Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics : the controversy over whether it coherently argues that the best life for humans is one devoted to a single activity, namely philosophical contemplation. Many scholars oppose this reading because most of it, according to Aristotle, consists of: 1 bodily goods - health, vitality, strength and pleasure 2 external goods - food, drink, shelter, clothing and sleep. 3 goods of the soul: knowledge, skill, love, friendship, aesthetic pleasure, self-esteem and honor. The first two types of goods are limited goods, we can have more of them.
