2. Materials and Methods. This is a cross-sectional study among participants with diabetes. The study population consisted of diabetic patients with registered data in health care centers of the health care network of Ardakan city, diagnosed with diabetes at least one year ago and treated with medication tablets or insulin. Beyond the health benefits, increasing investment in primary prevention represents a strong economic imperative. For example, obesity contributes to the treatment costs of many other diseases: 70% of diabetes costs, 23% of cardiovascular disease, and of cancers. Economic losses extend further to absenteeism and reduced productivity.
