The American response to the history of the Geneva Declarations




Abstract. Based on declassified documents from the People's Republic of China, the People's Republic of China, Vietnam, and the former Soviet Union, this essay examines Chinese policy toward the Geneva Conference on Indochina in relation to the United States. The article shows that Chinese leaders wanted to neutralize Indochina to prevent American victory, which encouraged the French.
