Ultimately, however, in this introductory article we argue that human trafficking is a global health problem. That is, the health consequences of human trafficking are so widespread and severe that it must be addressed as a public health problem of global proportions. Furthermore, because human trafficking is pervasive, there are causes of human trafficking. An examination of the problems and challenges of human trafficking brings us face to face with the grim reality of the situation. Hordes of women and children are victims of serious human rights violations as they have been trafficked by vested interests using bait, deception, coercion, threats and coercion before being put under pressure.
